Welcome to the IFAS-website!

Founded in 2019, the Institute for Applied Social Sciences (IFAS) functions as an interdisciplinary research institute of the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt and is attached to the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences. Currently 18 professors and 18 research assistants from various fields (e.g. social work, social studies, psychology, jurisprudence, music therapy, health science, health economics) with different research focuses are contributing to the IFAS. Combining these diverse competences enables outstanding interdisciplinary research focussing on the four centres: Health, Social Work Sciences, International Social Work and Digital Transformation. The individual research areas are represented in the centre structure. The institute provides the platform for collaboration and networking across centres and thus across disciplines. Interdisciplinary thinking and research are the main characteristics and one of the outstanding strengths of the IFAS.

Am 17. Und 18. September findet an der THWS in Würzburg die Fachtagung "Chance Arbeit - Erfolgreiche Vermittlung in den Arbeitsmarkt" statt. Die Fachtagung richtet sich an alle, die den Zugang von Menschen mit Behinderungen zum Arbeitsmarkt verbessern möchten. Sie stellt Ansätze und Strategien für den Übergang in den Arbeitsmarkt vor und gibt den Teilnehmer:innen neue Impulse für die eigene Arbeit. Weitere Informationen finden Sie hier.

Am 19. Und 20. September 2025 findet an der THWS in Würzburg die Tagung BAYHOST&BTHA Bavarian-Czech-Polish Symposium „Music & Aging. Music Activities in Old Age and Music Therapy for Aging Impairments” statt. Es können 6 Fortbildungspunkte der DMtG erworben werden- freie Plätze sind noch verfügbar. Am 3. Juli 2025 wurde vom IFAS das 8. Netzwerktreffen des Verbundkolleg Gesundheit vom Bayerischen Wissenschaftsforum BayWiss ausgerichtet. Thema waren „KI-basierte Gesundheitsanwendungen“. Neben Fachvorträgen zum Thema gab es von den Promovierenden des Kollegs geführte Poster-Präsentation zu den Projekten.
