Digitalizing & Archiving Social Work History in Lebanon

Project collaborator Aimée Ghanem is also the founder of “Sworld: Research Hub – Bridging Past and Future of Social Work”. Sworld is a digital research and knowledge platform aiming to advance the social work profession (in Lebanon). Sworld makes the challenges that populations have overcome in the past, visible and wants to contribute by imparting knowledge to empower people to bring about sustainable, positive change independently.

Due to the current events in Lebanon, which have resulted in many civilian casualties and internally displaced persons, Sworld has launched a fundraising campaign to support a social initiative in northern Lebanon. This initiative provides aid to internally displaced people in emergency shelters. You can support the campaign here:https://fundahope.com/en/campaigns/ahebbaii-action-for-lebanons-displaced-people

Supported by the ThRIvE project, Sworld is building, among other things, a digital knowledge archive, to make the “roots” and history of social work in Lebanon through research and documents accessible for the public.

First publications on the topic "Social Work in the Face of Crises and Disasters" are publicly accessible on the open access library server OPUS.
