SWorld, founded by Aimée Ghanem and supported by the ThRIvE project, is a digital research and knowledge platform that documents the history and evolution of social work in Lebanon while opening new perspectives. With a digital archive, publications such as “Social Work in the Face of Crises and Disasters”, and a daily mini-series on YouTube and the Beirut Banyan Podcast, SWorld creates space for intergenerational dialogue and critical reflection.

The platform highlights how social work responds to crises – and empowers people to shape sustainable, positive change.

We Care Club - Logo

The International Social Work Clubs are communities where students and professionals in social work connect theory and practice through shared learning. They empower members by fostering self-care, confidence, and emotional intelligence, while building international networks for growth and collaboration.

An inspiring example is the We Care Club in Lebanon, which originated within the ThRIvE-Project, where students create a safe and supportive space guided by the social work code of ethics. Through dialogue, awareness events, and community engagement, the club promotes personal and professional development and highlights the vital role of social work in society.

THWS International Teaching Weeks

Vortrag Farah Al Hamouri ITW 2023

Each year, lecturers, researchers, and project partners from around the world come together in Würzburg for the International Teaching Week (ITW) to exchange knowledge, teach across faculties, and strengthen global academic partnerships. Alongside numerous international presenters, ThRIvE members from Germany, Jordan and Lebanon contributed to the programme in 2023, 2024 and 2025 by holding lectures and leading discussions on topics such as Social Work in crisis contexts, coloniality in education, or restorative justice. Within the mobilities of the ITW the annual ThRIvE-networking meetings were held in Würzburg.

GJU Online Symposium & Conference

The GJU Online Symposium & Conference brings together practitioners, researchers, and students from across the Middle East to strengthen anti-oppressive practice in social work. As part of the ThRIvE project, partners from Jordan, Lebanon, and Germany actively contribute to the programme, enriching the event with diverse regional perspectives and fostering international collaboration. Each year, the symposium offers a space for critical dialogue on social justice, mental health, community empowerment, and transformative approaches within complex social contexts.
