With the support of the "ThRIvE Ambassador for Social Work in Refugee Camps" Mr. Mohammad Shwamra, the project could offer blended-learning Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses to social workers and volunteers living in Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. The 8-weeks MBSR courses were implemented in 2023 and 2024 by Rola El-Annan in a blended-learning format, and in Arabic, considering the needs and circumstances of the participants.

The MBSR programme, a method developed in the 1970s by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in the University Clinic in Worcester (USA), is a holistic approach that teaches practical, mindfulness-based exercises for stress reduction. It is implemented worldwide and has been researched upon in more than 900 studies, suitable for a variety of contexts to foster stress management skills and resilience. The course includes exercises for body awareness, gentle movements from Yoga, mindfulness meditations, practically experienced exercises for self-observation and short lectures on topics such as stress and difficult communication situations.

In both years, the participants from Zaatari also attended the in presence Mindfulness and Self Care Workshops in Amman hosted by GJU: Mindfulness & Self-Care Workshops.
