Creative Arts for Sustainable Futures and leading from within: Stepping into Co-Creation – Germany April 2025
The ThRIvE mobility “Creative Arts for Sustainable Futures & Building Peace: Stepping into Co-Creation” took place from 23rd to 30th of April 2025. As part of the project six students from the Modern University for Business & Science (MUBS) – Lebanon and two students from the German Jordanian University (GJU) – Jordan accompanied by two supervisors travelled to Würzburg in Germany. Additionally, eight students from the Bachelor of Social Work at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS) – Germany participated in the seminar. The contents and workshops included in the program focused on sustainability and creativity and their intersections and the students explored creative and sustainable methods for social change.
The seminar first started on the 4th of April in an online format. The mobility involving the previously mentioned visit of Lebanese and Jordanian students in Germany mainly took place in Würzburg at the campus of THWS and included excursions to different sustainable projects. Furthermore, it involved four-day trip to ‘Schloss Blumenthal’, a sustainable and regional project, from 25th to 28th of April 2025.
During the mobility the students participated at different workshops:
- Entering the field of Sustainable Future: The power of the imaginary, representation & creating from the Future
- Community building with African Dance
- Sustainable Project Cycles: Embodying visions with Dragon Dreaming
- Getting to know the “Bergwald Projekt”, an environmental protection organization
- Living in sustainable communities: The Art of Relationship Building and Decision Making
- Filming with Mobile Phones: learning how to film with mobile phone and how to edit recordings
- Introduction to a regional environmental project “Umweltstation”
The seminar included the creation and presentation of a personal short film, which aimed at leaning to envision, reflect and present thoughts and ideas through film. The seminar provided an opportunity for intercultural and academic exchange between students from Germany, Lebanon and Jordan and the opportunity to learn about creative approaches and tools for social transformation, community building, and empowerment.
